Travel Information

All iSLC Conference-related travel expenses will be covered for each Center’s selected participants. This includes airfare and ground transportation to and from the airport, hotel accommodations, and appropriate per diem allowances for travel with expected arrival date on Saturday, April 21, 2012 and departure date on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Based on our NSF-approved budget, each center has been allocated funding that should cover the costs of 15 participants to attend the
conference.

Conference Venue

The 2012 iSLC Conference will take place on the campus of the University of California San Diego, at The Meeting Rooms on Fifteen.

This Google Map shows the relative locations of the Meeting Rooms on Fifteen, the Estancia La Jolla, the Birch Aquarium, and the Bistro at the Strand.

Airfare

Your center's iSLC representative will contact you regarding how your center will handle airfare. If they instruct you to purchase your ticket yourself, you will be reimbursed after the conference has concluded. You will need to turn in the receipt for your flight.

If you are arriving late or departing early, you must let your center's iSLC representative know.

Hotel Accommodations

All conference participants will stay at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa located a few short blocks from the conference venue. Again, to stay within our budget, we ask that all participants share a room. Participants who do not have a roommate may be asked to room with a participant from another Center who is of the same gender. Roommate preferences should be submitted to your Center’s iSLC Conference representative. You do not need to make a hotel reservation; this will be taken care of by the Local Planning Committee in
San Diego.

You do not need to make a hotel reservation; the organizers will make the reservation for you.

If you will not be staying at the hotel on all three nights (4/21, 4/22, and 4/23), then you must let your center's iSLC representative know so that your hotel reservation can be adjusted.

Ground Transportation

To get to the hotel from the airport, the best two choices are taxi or shuttle. Taxi fare will cost approximately $40 each way and sharing cabs is highly recommended. Super Shuttle fare will cost approximately $19 per person each way.

The hotel and conference facilities are within walking distance from each other. Specific directions will be included on the conference schedule when available.

Reimbursement

Please keep all travel receipts. Upon returning home, receipts will be mailed to a representative at the University of California San Diego. For those travelling to San Diego, you will receive reimbursement for ground transportation (up to $168 total for the trip), airfare (if necessary), and meals on your travel days. Precise instructions will be released prior to the conference.
